Trio con Brio by Donray

Artist Donray (born Donald Arvin Ray in Houston in 1945) completed “Trio Con Brio,” an acrylic on canvas work that measures 62.5” by 80”, over the summer of 2009.  Donray’s painting style emphasizes color and motion and reflects the dynamic nature of human and animal life. Lines and gestural brush strokes define shapes in masses of swirling color. Through the 1990s, he developed a process that combines gel and polymer gloss media with a vibrant palette of intense acrylic hues and varied texture applications, glazing and under-painting, and since 1999, he has been working in his innovative acrylic-on-acrylic collage technique. His work has been exhibited in New York City, Washington, D.C., London, Houston and in the Metroplex where he now makes his home.

In early 2009, selected paintings by Donray were purchased in major acquisitions by two prominent financial corporations, the New York-based Prestige Financial Center and Dallas-based Allegiance Capital Corporation.  Both corporations cited the rising value of alternative investment vehicles and fine art’s unusual appreciation potential, as well as Donray’s artistic power and appeal, as supportive reasons.

Also, Donray will be hosting a series of gatherings at his studio for collectors and interested art lovers from now through December 2009.  His studio gatherings offer an opportunity to learn more about Donray and see a large selection of his work.  To inquire about studio gathering dates, contact the artist.
