Steinway Hall Donates Signature Piano to Dallas Symphony Orchestra Gala

September 6th, 2009

The 2009 Dallas Symphony Orchestra AT&T Gala will revisit the Meyerson’s 1989 Grand Opening Fortnight celebration with featured Gala artists Marvin Hamlisch and Johnny Mathis. As an homage to the past, Van Cliburn is recognized as this year’s Honorary Gala Artist and as a tribute to current day, Jaap van Zweden will lead the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in Beethoven’s Overture to Fidelio.

This special Gala will be dedicated to all those who made the Meyerson Symphony Center possible including Margaret McDermott, Morton H. Meyerson, Margot & Ross Perot, the late Annette Strauss, Karla & Liener Temerlin among others.

The black-tie evening, themed, ALL THAT GLITTERS begins with festive cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Betty B. Marcus Park followed by an exquisite dinner designed by guest celebrity chef, Kent Rathbun of Abacus and wine pairings in partnership with Cotes du Coeur. The concert doors then open for an exclusive performance harkening to the 1989 Opening Fortnight concert series. The evening comes to a close in the Meyerson lobby with the infamous Gala after-party. Themed ALL THAT ROCKS with Honorary After-Party Chair, Anna-Sophia van Zweden, there’s something for everyone after the concert: specialty cocktails, chef-stationed desserts, Ricki Derek (east lobby), DJ and dancing (west lobby), The Macallan and cigars. We look forward to seeing you on September 12th as we celebrate 20 years in this architectural and acoustical masterpiece, the Meyerson Symphony Center!
